Travelling This Month?
Heads-up info for July travellers across our cities.
S-Bahn disruption: airport route affected from 4 July
From 4 July, the S7 airport train is disrupted on the Floridsdorf–Praterstern section. From 7 September, the S7 will no longer serve Wien Mitte — use the CAT replacement bus (up to 5×/hour) or ÖBB long-distance trains via Hauptbahnhof. S7 fare (€5,40) still valid for the reduced route.
Summer crowds: expect packed RER B and metro
July is Paris's busiest tourist month. RER B to CDG airport runs full, especially Friday afternoons. Allow 90 minutes to the airport in peak periods. Pickpockets are most active on Lines 1, 4 and RER B — keep bags zipped and visible. Navigo Easy remains the best tourist option.
Contactless bank card now live at all metro gates
As of 1 June 2026, all 1,249 Madrid Metro gates accept contactless payment — Visa, Mastercard, Apple Pay, Google Pay. No card purchase needed. The 40% discount on the 10-trip Metrobús (€7,30) continues through December 2026.
Stable service — just tap and go
No planned strikes in July. TfL contactless runs reliably: tap any Visa/Mastercard/Apple Pay at barriers and your daily cap (Zone 1–2: £8,90) is applied automatically. New Piccadilly Line trains are rolling out on the Heathrow route through 2026.
Beach season & 40% discount still in effect
The government's 40% subsidy on T-Casual and T-Usual tickets runs through end of 2026 — T-Casual Zone 1 stays at €13,00 for 10 rides. Metro L4 to Barceloneta runs every 4 minutes at peak times. No disruptions announced for July.
TEL restrictions lift 4 July — full night service resumes
The Thomson–East Coast Line's temporary night service restrictions (in place since 22 May for system integration tests) end on 4 July. Full TEL service resumes. Tourist Day Pass prices also dropped: 3-day now SGD 29 with no deposit required.
